This is a democratically run game, with a round-robin DM accountability, set in the Pathfinder RPG setting (Golarion.)

Our campaign rules are derived from the original E6 rules for D&D 3.0, and the P6 Codex adaptation to Pathfinder, as well as some elements and lessons learned from Pathfinder Society Organized Play. See the "External Resources & Links" sections, below.

We've made further adjustments to these rules that are based on our "Level 8 Play" as opposed to level 6 in the original works, and due to group preferences.
.

Additionally:

  • Every player is also a DM, and runs scenarios or modules that are tweaked to fit our common backstory.
  • Everybody plays a persistent character, and gets to choose who will run their PC while they're taking a turn DM'ing.
  • To save time in game sessions, by default the characters all know each other from campaign start and have been working together in an adventuring company of sorts for enough time to trust each other. Those who wish to detail this in writing are free to create journal entries or origin stories to bring the past to life.
  • If new player joins late in the game, or a PC death/retirement prompts an old player to bring in a new character, we will either tie their backstory in directly as a long lost relative or ally of the group, or, if everyone agrees we will role-play out the new addition to the group in character. The purpose is to avoid breaking immersion with cheese-ball intros, and at the same time avoid the issues of "new guy syndrome" disrupting game play.
  • Individual DM's can maintain long-running story arcs if they wish, but nobody has to keep track of an entire campaign's worth of stuff.
  • Rules changes & decisions, and other campaign choices, are decided by group vote. Our policy for voting is "unanimous minus 1"; in other words, we want everyone's buy-in, but 1 person doesn't get to filibuster the game.
